INVENT REQUIRED TRAINING FOR ALL MEMBERS

As part of the basic INVENT team member requirement, all team members must complete the following:

1. Basic Incident Command courses (IS-100 & IS-200) - within 90 days of applying
2. National Incident Management System course (IS-700) - within 90 days of applying
3. A Weapons of Mass Destruction course (2 course options are acceptable, only 1 course is required). 
4. Attend the Deployment Operations Coruse

Proof of completion should be submitted to the INVENT office.  Some of these courses are available online, follow the links below.

National Incident Management System (NIMS)

IS-700 National Incident Management System, An Introduction

Required within 90 days of applying

Incident Command System (ICS)

IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command System, I-100

IS-200 Basic Incident Command System, I-200

Both courses required within 90 days of applying

Members are required to submit copies of their course certificates as proof of completion.  Copies of certificate or licenses can be mailed or emailed to the INVENT Office.

Upon completion of the above training, INVENT team members will be asked to complete the following:

A IMERT-INVENT Domestic Preparedness Course -  The Domestic Preparedness course has been designed to assist nurses and other professional medical disaster responders
improve preparedness for the health care consequences of CBRNE events and naturally occuring catastrophes. The course is intended to augment existing preparedness or other
terrorism-related programs. This 4-hour course has been developed by the Illinois Medical
Emergency Response Team, and INVENT, the Illinois Nurse Team, in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians
under an ASPR grant.  Training locations Downers Grove, IL or Urbana, IL.  See the Events section for upcoming courses

Take Nurses on the Front Line: Preparing for Emergencies and Disasters provided by George Washington University National Nurse Emergency Preparedness Initiative (NNEPI).

This course is an interactive web-based course that provides emergency preparedness training for nurses working in a wide variety of settings. Although the course is targeted to nurses, the lessons are applicable to all health care professionals and IMERT members who may respond to a CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Environmental) event.
